This summer we have been busy out in the local forests, teaching some half day outdoor first aid courses to keen mountain bikers. We set up some very realistic scenarios right from the start to get the students thinking on their feet/ or their bikes. The Peak Saftey team joined the students for a great ride through he forest before we really got stuck into the course.

For many, this was an opportunity to refresh their first aid skills in a unique setting.

The courses generally consist of an initial scenario out of the blue to see exactly how much info from previous courses has been retained. This is followed by a short ride through the forest to then watch some Mtn Biking crash video clips and a discussion about how to best manage the scenes.

By the end of the courses, all of the students were confident in carrying out a thorough patient assessment and treatment and it was great to see the students using these first aid skills and working as a team.

The Mountain Bike First Aid courses are a growing part of the Peak Safety Outdoor First Aid business and are increasing in popularity. Attendees consist of a mixture of recreational riders as well as event staff and Mtn Bike course marshalls.

It has been great to combine a bit of riding with some fun courses......
