This course is designed for those with an involvement in the outdoors and aims to provide the course participants with knowledge of how to deal with first aid emergencies found in the outdoors. All instruction is given by professional ski patrollers and outdoor instructors, and draws on their extensive knowledge. The programme includes the following topics but will be held in an outdoor setting where participants will be asked to use lateral thinking to deal with the first aid emergency.

  • Accident site management
  • Patient assessment
  • CPR and basic life support
  • Fracture assessment and treatment
  • Spinal assessment and treatment
  • Common medical conditions
  • Environmental conditions and management
